Canada is in a state of political suffering and turmoil. Quebec has seceded, and the French Ambassador to Canada and the president of Quebec’s top aid have been taken as political hostages.  These events set the stage for St. Michael’s Orphans, a complex, intriguing novel about a military and political conflict that could threaten Canada’s very survival.

Die-hard separatists are infuriated by land agreements made by Quebec and Canada.  In an effort to ensure Quebec remains independent from Canada, these separatists create a conflict for Canada under the guise of a terrorist group.  Canada is in dire need of help, but who will they turn to without relying on international intervention?

Richard Wilson is a former member of the Canadian Airborne Regiment suffering from a mysterious illness as a result of events that occurred during his Cyprus peacekeeping tour in 1981.  Wilson is still coping with demons from his past when he is called upon to infiltrate the FLNQ in order to rescue the political hostages.  To successfully complete his mission, he must enlist the help of Heather Winston, the most notorious terrorist in Canadian history. Together they will facilitate the rescue of the hostages by Canadian paratroopers.

St. Michael’s Orphans is a high-action military drama that celebrates the Canadian Airborne.  It gives true insight into military family life, and the realities of soldiers as they try to heal from the scars of battle.
