There is a Steve Taylor who performed with DeGarmo & Key in the late 1980's. He is credited with the lead guitars on the song Teenage Suicide that appeared on the 1987 album D & K, guitar and vocals on the 1988 album Rock Solid Absolutely Live, BGVs on the 1989 album The Pledge and guitars with Dana Key on the song If God Is For Us (Who Can Be Against Us) which appeared on The Pledge
If you dig out your copy of The Pledge and look in the insert, you will find a picture of the DeGarmo & Key Band. The tall fellow with the long dark hair is this Steve Taylor. As indicated, he was with DeGarmo & Key for their legendary Rock Solid tour and stayed with the group for a few years as a second guitar player. The name has caused some confusion. Another interesting side note is that this guitar-playing Steve Taylor's wife was named Elizabeth, but she isn't that Elizabeth Taylor any more than her husband is that Steve Taylor.
There is no evidence of Roland Stephen Taylor performing with DeGarmo & Key other than the recording The Cause: Do Something Now.
Ironically, the album The Pledge is the album that featured the song Boycott Hell. The Newsboys covered the song on their Not Ashamed album that Steve Taylor (Roland Stephen) produced. This is the same cover that includes the not so flattering rap by Steve in the middle.
