Steve Taylor wrote the lyrics to the songs Are We Feeling Comfortable Yet? and Fear The Auctioneer. He co-wrote the lyrics with various members of Guardian to the songs Bottle Rocket, Coffee Can, What Does It Take, Babble On, Blue Light Special, The Water's Fine, Hell To Pay and Harder Than It Seems.

In an interview in June 1997, during the first few months after the album's release, Guardian indicated that Steve would not allow them to include a cover song on the album.
