Annual Summary and Assessment of Environmental Radiological Data for 1998

Tritium in vegetation trends: 1982 to 1998 (1) (for Darlington, Pickering and Bruce Nuclear Reactors)

These graphs illustrate how the tritium emissions have dropped at these power plants since the early 1990's. This is apparently due to new tritium removal technology. The levels in vegetation seem to be below 100 Bq/L. at all three sites. At Pickering, the level of tritium in vegetation was on the rise from 1995 being sampled at 104 Bq/L in 1998.

We reproduce this data here as a further call for SRB Technologies to reduce their very high emissions of tritium and for the regulator, CNSC, to fulfill its responsibility to protect the environment from human-produced radioactive pollution.
