What People Are Saying About

My Love, My Life

Just wanted to let you know that I have finished your book and think it is a wonderful piece of work.

I like the way you showed all sides to an issue. It's nice to know that I am not alone, and in some ways

I draw comfort from that.  Petawawa

Hi, I just finished My love, My Life. I am a military wife, who may or may not join the military in the near

future.  I found the book very fascinating and well rounded. I am so glad that it showed military life from

the different  perspectives of the spouse. I think the book has opened up my mind a bit. As military spouses

we have shared  experiences but we don't all share the same ways of looking at those experiences.

I will definitely recommend this book, especially to military girl/boyfriends who are new to the experience.

Thank you for the enjoyable read.  Dawn

I just wanted to send you a quick note to pass on some news. My father-in-law (Rear-Admiral (ret'd)

Pickford) is obviously very interested in all things in the military and he always asks me what I do which I

try to explain. Naturally since he was a WWII Veteran his name is often in books about the war as is my

husband, John, who was the CO of HMCS ATHABASKAN during the Gulf War. I was very proud of

finding  my name in your book and was telling my father-in-law about that.

Anyway, he was keenly interested and so we gave him a copy of your book last Sunday for his 84th

birthday. He called me on Monday evening and said that he was incredibly impressed with your book.

He also indicated that in spite of his years in the military he never knew "wives had it so hard".

He feels enlightened by that acknowledgement; however, is somewhat saddened by the fact that

he never acknowledged the sacrifices that his wife endured for 57 years of marriage.

To sum up Dianne, your book has struck a very personal and positive cord with my father-in-law and

I just wanted to let you know the effect it has had on him.

Well done - you should be very proud!! Heather J. Armstrong, DQOL 7 - Family Policy Team Leader

Reading your new book and like "Hurry Up and Wait" can't put down. It is very well done.

I agree with a lot but like you said things have changed over the past 10 years.

Saw you when you came to North Bay in 90's. You are an inspiration to all.  Judy Hameluck

Well I was up until 1:40 am and I finished the book.  Once I started reading at bedtime (finally,  I had to

work until  10pm last night!) I couldn't put it down.  The only complaint I have is that it was too short!  Toronto

You are an amazing woman who has taken on a great task - and I know you have been sent many letters

of gratitude and appreciation - but I feel it is important to let you know the impact you work has

on so many people. You have given us a voice - put our hopes, fears, dreams, on paper...

and that is an incredible thing. Don't ever stop  Kingston

I was so wonderfully excited that your book touched down on divorce from a military member.... I am one

of those...  However I don't blame the military, I promote them. Petawawa

I just finished the book My Love My Life and found it great especially right now in my life.

I am a military wife of 18 years and was a Navy brat before.  It was nice to feel part of something again

by just reading the book.  We have been outcasts the last few years from the military since my husband was

RTU'd  from a course because of  PTSD from 2 tours he did.  I was hoping your chapter on this topic

would have been bigger but I agree with your reasons, I guess I was looking for some moral support to see

others having gone through the humiliation that we did.

In regards to you book. I’m gobbling it up! I also noticed two emails of mine and am flattered that you

found them  worthy of your book. You did a fantastic job. I’m proud of you! Not that I’m surprised or

anything. I knew it would be.  Kingston

Love your Book !! THANK YOU, FOR SPEAKING UP FOR US!  Deep River

I first want to congratulate you on your new book and the exciting events I'm sure will follow.

It takes a special kind of person to put together the words and feelings, in which you have done in a book.

And anybody who has lived this lifestyle past or present can relate.  Petawawa

I have finished reading the book and would like to congratulate you on a job well done.

I laughed, I cried, I was angry and saw myself in many of the stories.

You really captured the way life is now for us all and I know you will get some more great feedback. Edmonton

I am enjoying your book, I  am thinking about it even when I don't have it in my hands . It is a good read .

Wives and in some cases  husbands of the military wives can relate too. It's a good read for all .

It will make a great gift for military of any affiliation. Halifax

The book is soooo good.!! I am almost done.!!! Can't stop reading !!!!. Thanks for speaking up for us.  Petawawa

I must tell you I have not been able to put your new book down. It is us! You have let the world know who we are.

 Thank you.   Edmonton

I have to say that even though I grew up as an "air force brat," your work has given me a whole new level

of  understanding of the issues faced by those on the home front. I guess I just figured that the way we grew

up  had more to do with my mom's superwoman personality than with the fact that she was a military

wife. Now I  understand more about WHY she was so independent.   Ottawa
