MOTHER/CHILD ATTACHMENT PROJECT

My name is Leah Robbins, and I am a doctoral student at Alliant International University .  We are recruiting military wives for the Mother-Child Attachment Project, which will be running through December 2004.  The study pays $20 plus a chance to win $100!  The study consists of a 1-hour appointment for you and your child at the AIU campus in San Diego , located in Miramar , where Pomerado Rd meets the 15 fwy. I would like to invite all military wives with children between 12 and 18 months old to participate.

This is a study on infant attachment, and the relationships between mothers and their children.  A child’s pattern of attachment can provide much information to us regarding how well that child is doing emotionally and developmentally.  By observing the relationships between mothers and their babies, we can also assess how children are reacting to deployment.  We are studying both military families that have gone through deployments, and military families that haven’t.  We plan to use this information to help families in the future during deployments.

When you arrive, we begin with a videotaped 20-minute procedure where we observe your child playing, both with you and with a research assistant in a room filled with toys.  Our research assistant is a young woman who is getting her PhD in Clinical Psychology and specializes in working with children.

Following that procedure will be some questionnaires and a brief 15-minute interview.

We pay you $20 for your time, and you are entered into a lottery for $100!

If you would like to participate in the study,
