A SMALL PRICE TO PAY

They put on green fatigues and hold their heads up high

They wait until that call and never question why

They hold their families and their Country closest to their heart

They serve both you and me loyal from the start

It is not war, but love that draws them to the fight

It is their sacrifice that keeps us from the night

They are soldiers true, but Canadians to the core

It is our freedom and democracy

that they are fighting for

It is not the poet, nor the protester that have given us our right

It is the blood of soldiers that has kept us from the night

We must not forget them marching off to war

Because in the end it was you and me

That they were fighting for

We often forget the sacrifice they made so we can live

Remembering is a small small price compared to what they give….
