Children of Military Families

Below is a letter from my publisher, Patsy Aldana of Groundwood Books, explaining a little about my project:

To whom it may concern:

Deborah Ellis is an award-winning author of books for young people.  Her work has been translated into eighteen languages and is read by kids in more than twenty countries around the world.

Her current project, Children of Military Families (working title) will include interviews with and photographs of children whose lives have been affected by having a parent serving overseas in a situation of conflict.  The premise behind the project is to allow readers to gain a more thorough understanding of the price paid by families who carry out the orders of countries that send them to war.  She intends to create as full a picture as possible, reflecting both the struggles, the joys, and the communities of these families in Canada and the United States.

We know it’s not always easy to be a child whose parent may be far away and in danger.  We think the voices of these children should be heard, and we’re grateful for your co-operation and help with what we think will be an important book.

Sincerely,
