Should Canada pull out
of Afghanistan in 2009?
What an instant gratification society we
are! We want things done and we want them done right now! What
if the government of Afghanistan isn't ready to provide security and
stability in 2009? The 25 years of terror and devastation the people
of Afghanistan have lived should not be forgotten nor expected to change
in 5 or 6 years. And what of the sacrifices of our own military up
'til now, let's cut our losses and run? More education needs to be
made available to Canadians about the Afghan people, culture, history and
Canada's participation in this NATO mission. We have a
responsibility as global citizens to make informed decisions. Where
are the politicians in this process?...busy polling Canadians about how
they 'feel' about Canada's involvement...where's the support for our
brave CF members who selflessly serve and their devoted family members in

We need to stay in Afghanistan for
however long it takes BUT other countries need to increase their presence
in Afghanistan and not sit back waiting for Canada to continue to not only
take the lead - but in taking all the casualties as well. There is
no easy fix to this situation and those who think terrorism will never
affect us need to pull their heads out of the sand. We must help
eradicate the Taliban before it's Canadians on Canadian soil who are
living in tents in refugee camps if we are lucky enough to get into
one. Not possible here? Don't bet your life on
