When
God created the military wife
He decided
to give her an exciting life
One
filled with lots of laughter and pain
As she
whispers: "He's gone again!"
For the
man that was to remain by her side
Kisses
her goodbye and travels worldwide
His
job is to protect us from near and far
And
to clean up after other countries' wars
Why couldn't
he say "Not today, Sir
I promised
my wife I would not deter
Home
with her is where I'll be
Please
send someone else - not me."
But then,
would that be entirely fair?
He really
must go and leave her here
To look
after the kids, car and home
While
he becomes temporarily 'gone'
That
she is capable everyone knows
But
the separations do eventually take their toll
A normal
marriage, it will never be
Since
no one else has all these responsibilities
But when
all of this is said and done
She
knows that she is the only one
To sacrifice
so much for country and kin
As she
draws on her tremendous strength from within
Behind
every successful man is his wife
Who
manages all the toil and the strife
But
when it's time for medals to be given out
She
stands by the sidelines showing a little pout
For both
have sacrificed much in this life
But
acknowledgement seldom comes to the military wife
Though
she sacrifices much for country and kin
No medals
for her - just for him!
Now I
ask you, is that really fair?
Without
military wives always being there
Our
servicemen wouldn't know what to do
So please
understand if your wife feels blue
That
she continues to support, love and provide
You
men should look at her with tremendous pride
Because
without her, where would you be
Think
about it guys, and I know you'll agree
That
what keeps our country strong and free
Is the
military wives who so capably
Bring
up Canada's military children
And
teach them to be patriotic men and women
So the
next time you see a military wife
Acknowledge
her role, her pain and her strife
Give
her a well-deserved pat on the back
And
acknowledge that her love is 'where it's at'
