Ode To The Abode

 By Julie Doherty

We will be moving out soon

You run-down little house

Last year we had the wasps’ nest

This year it was a mouse

Your walls are chipped and scabby

The old paint showing through

What colors were they thinking

Pink, yellow, green and blue

I know a MAN designed you

That’s very plain to see

He put a little hallway

Where the kitchen’s s-posed to be

The floors are warped and creaky

The bedrooms are too small

Two can’t fit into the bathroom

It isn’t big at all

I’ve spent many years inside you

As a child and then a wife

You’re mostly what I lived in

My whole entire life

And now we’ve brought a ‘real home

 It’s time to say “Adieu”

I thank you for the memories

My precious PMQ
