"Quiet Warriors:

The everyday heroics of Petawawa's mothers"

Janice Kennedy's (Ottawa Citizen) coverage of military wives in Petawawa

is an exceptional piece of work.  While people only see the finished product,

I understand the many, many hours behind the scenes required to create such a heart-felt,

accurate depiction of every day life for military wives.

Janice's compassion and her sincere desire to understand us more is

very evident in her work.  She made the ladies feel completely comfortable in

chatting with her - they trusted her and that is not an easy feat in a community

that has seen more than its share of intrusion by reporters.

When you couple Janice's amazing ability to tell our story so accurately and vividly

with the award winning talents of photographer Julie Oliver,

they are an unbeatable team.   Unfortunately I do not have copies of Julie's photographs

to add to the attached article, and it's a shame because what Janice

creates with her pen, Julie duplicates with her camera.

These two very special ladies have created something that I think

will do much to help civilians understand us more, and each lady,

in their own talented way, is providing a much needed, much

appreciated HUG for every military wife out there.
